Pakistan Flood Relief

More than 14 million people in Pakistan have lost their homes and livelihoods by extensive flash flooding caused by the severe monsoon season and more than 1,600 have lost their lives. The rains are expected to worsen. Make an emergency gift to support IMI’s efforts to assist survivors in Pakistan.

DC Conference

From October 8 – 10, IMI will host its 4th International & 11th National Conference in Washington, DC.  The focus of this conference will be examining healthcare systems and policies on a global level. It will offer panel discussions, workshops, and professional development activities from current research and programs in a variety of fields relating to health promotion and disease prevention. Pre-registered attendees will also participate in the advocacy day programs on Capitol Hill on Friday.  These activities will be targeted to address health policies in the US and the growing violence against the Shi’a community globally.  Read more...

IMI in Iraq

The Third Imamia Medics International Delegation to Iraq toured the country May 1 to May 8. All of the doctors made rounds at Al Sadr Hospital and offered treatment and advice in a number of complicated cases, as well as presenting lectures and providing clinical trainings for Iraqi doctors, health professionals and medical students.   Read more…

This fall, IMI will host a workshop, Addressing Diabetes to Achieve MDGs, at the 63rd Annual United Nations Department of Public Information/Non-Governmental Organizations Conference taking place in Melbourne, Australia, August 30th to September 1st, 2010.  The conference is designed to highlight effective ways in which civil society, in partnership with other actors, and contribute to fostering global health: not just managing disease.  In addition to the workshop, IMI will be sending numerous delegates to represent the organization at conference sessions and connect with participants at IMI’s exhibit at the conference. Welcome To Imamia Medics International

Imamia Medics International (IMI) is a global medical professional organization incorporated in the United States in 1994 and accredited by the United Nations Department of Public Information in 2000.  Its membership is comprised not only of physicians, pharmacists, nurses, scientist and other healthcare professionals, but also, individuals committed to enhancing the medical, social, intellectual and spiritual wellbeing of our communities.  IMI’s activities range from professional educational programs, community based clinics, vaccination programs, maternal and child care programs, health missions, disaster relief operations and international health policy work at the UN and similar agencies. IMI has been an active partner in Pulse Polio Immunization Program, Global Tuberculosis Control Programs, Hajj Medical Missions and Disaster Relief Operations during earthquakes, famines and other crisises.

IMI Pakistan Flood Relief Update

August 23: Another  team of 6 members including Dr. Mubarak Ali, Dr. Fakhir Raza, Dr. Mehdi Abbas, Dr. Ammar Yasir, Qasim Raza Pharmacist & Qasim Hussain reached Babarlou Distt. Khairpur this morning. They have divided in two teams, going Sobodero & Piryalo today to conduct medical Camps, on Sunday they will be in different IMI Flood Relief Medical Camps at Pano Akil, and other different villages of Distt. Sukkur, Shikarpur & Gotki. The teams have taken lot of medicines & equipments with them. Dr. Hussain Nasir (Urologist) from Karachi will join team in today evening.

IDP Camp at Al-Mohsin Hall, F.B.Area, Karachi: IMI Medical Camp has been working in morning & after Maghrib. IMI Doctors are providing 24 hour emergency cover, 3 patients hospitalised at Fatimiyah Hospital. Physician, Gynecologist & Pediatrician also conduct separate clinics there.
 

New IMI Chapter: Multan

In May 2010, IMI’s new chapter in Multan was formally inaugurated. Dr. Imran Zaidi and Dr. Shujayat Ali, Dr. Naveed Haider, Dr. Aqeel Hussain coordinated the meeting. There were 28 Doctors participants from Multan, DG Khan Bhawalpur, Raginpur, and Muzafargarrh and other nearby towns.  Local needs were highlighted at the meeting including the establishment of clinics, professional development and specialization for physicians.

The IMI Multan chapter has also coordinated with Muhammadia Blood Bank to establish a blood bank in Multan so that whenever there is a need in Multan for blood pints, they will be provided.  There are also regular first aid camps in Muharram camps and routine monthly camps for the community are being held locally.
